Designed for people. Built for change

We create architecture that is designed for people and built for change. That means that we start each project by seeking to understand the people who will benefit from its use, then make sustainable, ‘long-life, loose-fit’ buildings that embrace the future.

Successful architecture relies on an understanding of people’s lives in all their social, psychological and economic complexity, which is why engagement and consultation are essential parts of our design process. But it is only when people move into a building that its life truly begins. This is why we create ‘long-life, loose-fit’ buildings that are flexible and long-lasting.

Our main home in West London stands as a testament to this ethos, having been used as a Victorian Laundry, a home to artist John Piper, a film editing suite and the headquarters of Island Records.

Architecture that is designed for people and built for change empowers us all to reuse and repurpose our environment, and to create our own success. If we are to solve the unprecedented global challenges ahead, we must all take responsibility for the places and spaces that we use every day.
